The art of leathermaking or leatherworking, according to the writings of Rashid al-Din Fazlullah, an Iranian physician and historian of the 7th century AH, before the Mongol invasion, the leather and skin trade was very popular in Iran. According to the remaining historical observations, the cities of Shiraz and Tabriz were among the most prosperous in this trade at that time. Later, during the Qajar period, the city of Hamedan became the center of leather production. In addition to Hamedan, Tabriz and Isfahan also played a large role in the production and export of leather. The first leather factory in Iran was built in the city of Tabriz, and after that, leather production factories were built in the cities of Hamedan, Tehran and Isfahan. With the advancement of technology, vegetable leather was produced from cactus and corn plants, and these products were met with a huge wave of acceptance by vegetarians.
